Dear Republicans (From a Former Republican)

Speaking as a former Republican, your country and the world need your help to escape Trump’s chaos, the USA’s loss of respect, and the coming recession.

Do you agree with Trump’s pardoning the Jan. 6 convicted criminals?

Or when he removed our Inspectors General without cause or 30 days’ notice?

Removed the top lawyers from our armed services?

Removed provisions against bribing foreign officials?

Removed provisions against him taking Bitcoin bribes from those seeking his favor?

Used his powers to harass his perceived enemies?

Trump allowed Elon Musk to illegally reduce the federal workforce, something that should have been done with careful thought and concern for national security.

Trump has thrown our support for Ukraine to the wind. If he really wanted peace in Ukraine, he would have increased U.S. support, pressuring Putin to back off when he sees he has no way forward. To assure peace, Ukraine should join NATO, preventing more Russian aggression. Instead, Trump put NATO in peril and jeopardized U.S. security. It is our fight.

Trump alienated our friends and trading partners in Canada, Mexico, and the European Union with his irrational tariffs. Our markets are in freefall. This is leading us into a recession. The Trump chaos could be easily stopped by Congress blocking Trump’s Emergency Order. The request for such a vote was tendered. What happened? Instead, the GOP voted to protect themselves from Trump by “declaring” the rest of the year one long day, nullifying a law allowing Congress to end a disaster declared by a president.

Trump wants to lower the corporate tax rate to 15%. Here’s something to consider: While Obama was president, corporate tax rates were 35%, and the Dow Jones more than doubled, from 7,949 to 19,827. Our corporations are currently paying 21% and were doing very well until Trump’s tariffs. Now, we worry about a recession.

Will you agree with me that this needs to end? Please help Congress retake the power of the purse, control tariffs, and defend our laws. We need to find a few GOP congress members who still believe in supporting our troops, our businesses, and our freedoms. The public would be very appreciative, and Republicans could once again hold their heads high in public.
