Jane Elizabeth Eiseman of Lacey passed away peacefully Dec. 8, 2024, surrounded by loved ones and her faithful dog Max. Jane was born Dec. 10, 1941, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Willard A. Eiseman and Margaret H. Huff.
Jane was brilliant, funny and insatiably curious. She had a degree in anthropology with a Middle Eastern focus, was a systems analyst, published a book, and worked as a massage therapist. When she started volunteering, she spent time working at any library close to her and became a docent at Woodland Park Zoo, cleaning up after orangutans. She loved watercolor painting, animals, gardening, birding and travel. Jane was adventurous and willing to try new things. She got her first pair of running shoes at the age of 40 and ran enough to complete several 10Ks, but never cared if she actually made it to the top of anything.
A longtime resident of Longbranch, Jane built her dream home on Tipperary Road and immersed herself in community activities. She was a founding member of the Art Tarts, an active volunteer for Two Waters Arts Alliance and the Art Walk, and served several years on the boards of the Longbranch Improvement Club and the Longbranch Foundation.
Jane made friends easily, loved to host dinners, and could be the life of any party. She was a terrific mom: easy, creative and fun. Jane cared for a plethora of animals, all of whom likely greeted her enthusiastically when she died. We expect she is now pain-free, laughing with her mom and sister and arguing with her brother. We all should be so lucky.
Jane is survived by her siblings, Patrick Eiseman of Phoenix, Arizona; Pamela Conroy of Cape Coral, Florida; Stephen Eiseman of Fairview, North Carolina; and her daughter Maggie Dennis of Boston, Massachusetts. Jane is also survived by a gaggle of nieces and nephews who adored her and will always treasure her memory.
A memorial will be held in the spring of 2025.
