Jesse Young is No Bipartisan

Posted

On his campaign posters, Jesse Young claims to be “Our Voice of Reason.” It’s a claim he made the last time he ran for office. His actions while in and out of office tell a different story.

One way to know someone’s character is to observe how they treat those around them, especially those who work for them. Jesse treated his staff so poorly his own party reprimanded and sanctioned him by removing support staff from his office.

Jesse has been claiming to have brought money to the KP to help fund the development of Gateway Park. While he, along with all other elected officials, signed the budget, he didn’t serve on the selection committee. When asked about Jesse’s contributions to the funding, the KP Parks executive director at that time, Scott Gallacher, responded “He didn’t do jack.”

When students organized a peaceful human rights rally in Gig Harbor, Jesse showed up arm in arm with a misguided partner carrying an assault rifle.

In the last edition of the KP News, the editors mentioned his efforts to appear bipartisan (“The Candidates Spoke and Now We Vote,” October 2024). His demonstrated partisanship when he was in office made him ineffective. I have no hope he has changed his character.

Jesse Young has proven he’s not reasonable and is definitely not our voice of reason.
