On March 20, Key Peninsula Girl Scouts and Daisies participated in the annual World Thinking Day activity. Girls take part in activities, games and projects with global themes to honor their sister “Girl Guides” and “Girl Scouts” in other countries.

This year’s local activity was held in Gig Harbor at Lighthouse Christian School and the theme for World Thinking Day 2010 was "together we can end extreme poverty and hunger."

The Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula troops each provided a booth decorated as a country.

Eight booths were designed and the countries chosen were Thailand, Australia, Mexico, France, Germany,India, Canada and England. The girls circled the booths and did a craft and ate a snack from that country to earn a stamp for their individual passport books.

Daisy Scouts from the Key Peninsula finished up the day at the Thailand booth where they scooped rice into little baggies as a souvenir.

Girl Scout leader Sheri Medley, surrounded by Girl Scouts from the Key Peninsula and Gig Harbor, learned and played a game traditional to Thailand. The middle person closes her eyes while the team circles around her. Medley tags a participant from the outside and tries to guess who it is. Medley and her troop dressed in traditional Indian costume to represent their booth for India.
