The Northwest Navy Band from Bremerton opened the ceremony during the Aisle of Honor May 24 at Vaughn Cemetery. The Northwest Pipe and Drum from the Olympia chapter played several selections including “Amazing Grace.”
The “Aisle of Honor” was lined with 278 flags donated by family members of veterans going as far back as the Civil War. At the end of the day each flag is folded in the military triangle fold and are stored in a special location. The flags and poles are numbered according to the veteran they represent and placed in a special cement hole numbered to coincide with the flag and pole.
Mike Coffin, President of the KPVI says “we have more flags than any other chapter in the state” and he believes the largest ceremony. The Warrior Brothers Veterans Motorcycle Club based in Allyn was there

to represent their chapter. An honored speaker, John Lee, Washington State Director of Veterans Affairs spoke briefly and guest speaker was Lt. Col. Tim Walker of the National Guard.
Readers of the roll call of honor were, Joe Barrow, Bill Macaras, Don Zimmerman, Roger Wilson and Reverand Dick Brandt.
Service flags flew representing The Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines and POW/MIA.
In 2006 a permanent monument was dedicated declaring “All Gave Some-Some Gave All-Thank You.”
