Posted

Wauna resident Erden Eruç, 60, was approximately 2,433 miles west of Waikiki Dec. 20 when he set his 17th world record: 1,000 days of rowing.

"Today I became the first person to reach the immense threshold of 1,000 total days in solo ocean rowing," Eruç wrote in his blog. "(M)y yellow rowboat has accrued a total of about 1,250 days of illustrious history ...  (S)he is the first rowboat to have plied the waters of three major oceans."

He plans to make landfall in Asia in March.
