GHP FISH will share building’s progress on Facebook Live

Gig Harbor Peninsula FISH Food Bank and Community Services will host a virtual hard hat tour to launch the community fund-raising phase for its new facility on Burnham Drive. The Facebook Live event will start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2. Key volunteers will explain how the new spaces will serve the public with food and other assistance.

This is a public page, so viewers need not have a Facebook account to attend. It will be recorded and posted for later viewing on YouTube on the GHP FISH Food Bank page.

Food bank use is increasing dramatically. For the past two years clients have had to wait outside for prepacked bags and limited personalized selections. When the new building opens this summer, people once again will come inside to “shop” for their own groceries and select donated clothing and small household items. There also will be much-needed space for storage, confidential conversations, meetings and more.

GHP FISH is a nonprofit organization that has been helping neighbors in need since 1976. With dedicated support from the community and around 200 volunteers, it helps Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula individuals and families on their journeys to self-sufficiency with food and other assistance.
