Home hosts Fourth of July parade

The historic Home Parade will feature the Key Peninsula Fire District 16 American LaFrance fire engine on July 4.

“This is our first year to participate in the parade,” said FD 16 Chief Chuck West.

Before FD 16 existed, the town of Home owned the 1919 fire engine. It was donated to the district in the 1950s. The engine is now used as a community relations tool, West said.

Marchers will gather for the parade at the Home Country Store and the parade will begin at 10 a.m. continue down A Street and past the boat launch.

Classic cars, riding lawn mowers, clowns, patriots, goats and horses are all part of the parade.

A pancake breakfast and other treats such as coffee, fruit and champagne will be available.
