Intro to Bookbinding - Make a Handmade Journal

Serve Nutrition

Posted

Learn to create a handmade hardbound journal with cardboard, cord and beautiful paper. After you assemble the cover, you’ll learn simple bookbinding techniques to attach a stack of thick, unlined paper to the cover using the Coptic binding method. Paper hoarders will love this craft, as your stash will provide a never-ending variety of bookbinding possibilities. You get to raid our paper stash for this class or you may bring 2 sheets of coordinating 12×12 card stock. Finished journals measure 5 inches by 7 inches and will hold up to 60 sheets. These are great as notebooks, sketchbooks and more. We will talk about other binding techniques, tools, etc. though the methods are vast. But you’ll walk away with the skills to get started with this rewarding hobby.

This workshop will be held at Serve Nutrition, in Lakebay and is suitable for ages 12+ (minors must attend with adult). Prepaid ticket required – ticket sales close 72 hours before event.
