Total Calls: 131 EMS: 85 Fire/service: 20 Other: 26 May 17 The caregiver of an 87-year-old Lakebay woman called 9-1-1 after the elderly woman complained of chest pain. Paramedics arrived to find the woman's heart rate was low at about 30 beats per minute. The woman said she decided to stop taking most of her medications. Key Peninsula Medic One transported her to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment May 19 Paramedics responded to a 9-1-1 call from an 89-year-old Wauna woman complaining of chest pain. The woman reported that her blood pressure was elevated and she has a history of a rapid heart rate. Key Peninsula Medic One transported her to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment. May 21 A 41-year-old male checked himself out of a hospital against the advice of medical staff within a day of having surgery on his neck. By the next day, he was calling 9-1-1 for ambulance transport back to a hospital due to severe post-surgical neck pain. May 26 Medics responded to the home of a woman in her 90'who wasn't responding normally. She was evaluated at scene and transported by ambulance to an area hospital for further evaluation and treatment. May 29 Multiple 9-1-1 calls were made to report a rollover collision on SR-302 near Rocky Bay. An additional caller reported a young female driver was seen walking away from the crash site. Fire and law enforcement units checked the area for the woman but didn't find her. While units were at the scene, the driver returned to gather possessions from her car. She denied any injuries. Washington State Patrol investigated. May 29 A Longbranch woman had recently visited an emergency clinic for an acute back pain. The 60 year old was prescribed a muscle relaxer and sent home. This evening she called 9-1-1 when she became unable to move from a fixed position and was suffering extreme pain in her lower back. Key Peninsula Medic One transported her to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment. May 30 Several motorists were surprised to find a pickup truck parked in the southbound lane of Key Peninsula Highway north of Key Center around noon on Thursday. According to witnesses, a 54-year-old male driver came to a stop, placed the vehicle in park and nodded off to sleep in the middle of the roadway. Firefighters arrived and woke the driver who had alcohol on his breath. Paramedics examined him and Pierce County Sheriff deputies took him into custody. May 8 A 51-year-old Lakebay woman with an extensive history of lung problems experienced another bout of difficulty breathing. Paramedics arrived to find her markedly short of breath and they quickly administered medications and and transported her to a local hospital in the priority mode. Her condition improved moderately before arriving at the hospital. June 4 Paramedics were dispatched to a Rocky Bay home to conduct a welfare check. The woman was treated at a hospital recently, but checked herself out against the advice of her physician. Today, her physician's staff was unable to reach her at home and grew concerned about her well-being. After she did not respond to pounding on the doors, paramedics entered the home through an unlocked door. The found her in bed watching TV. She angrily ordered them to leave her alone. So they did. June 6 Fire and police units responded to a two-car head-on collision in Vaughn. One vehicle was pulling out of a driveway when it was struck by another vehicle traveling with the right-of-way. There were no injuries. Pierce County Sheriff's deputies investigated while firefighters directed traffic around the crash scene.
