KP fire destroys garage, vehicles; cause under investigation

Explosions were reported at a residence in the 200 block of 195th Ave. on Aug. 21. According to a report from Fire District 16, firefighters responded to the Longbranch residence where a detached garage was burning, and one of the occupants suffered burns to one arm. Another person was transported to a local hospital for treatment of chest pain.

The fire destroyed a 30 by 60 foot garage, multiple vehicles on the property, and it spread to surrounding brush before it was finally contained.

Key Peninsula Fire District was assisted by Gig Harbor Fire District, and crews from Kitsap Fire District 7.

The Pierce County Fire Marshall has been requested to conduct an investigation of the cause of the fire.
