Reflective tape applied to guardrails on SR 302 in 2014-15 started peeling off during the cold spell in December 2016. According to sources at WSDOT, the steel might not have been well prepped before the reflective was applied, the adhesive might have been bad or it might not be up to the freezing weather, but no one is sure why it’s failing.
