Several bags of asbestos from a demolition or renovation site were illegally dumped on 149th Street KPN near Rocky Creek in the early evening of Saturday, Aug. 19. Anyone with information about this incident can call the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department at 253-798-4722. Asbestos is a hazardous air pollutant requiring proper removal and disposal. When handled improperly, asbestos breaks down into small fibers that are easily inhaled and can cause lung cancer, asbestosis or mesothelioma. Report illegal dumping at 253-798-6000.
