Robert “Bob” William Hill, born Aug. 30, 1942, passed away peacefully Dec. 6, 2024, at the age of 82 in Gig Harbor. A cherished resident of Vaughn, Bob’s life was marked by his profound contributions to martial arts and his passion for pigeon racing.

Bob co-founded Butokukan Karate in the early 1960s after training under Master Yoichi Nakachi in Seattle. Concurrently, Bob served at the Keyport Submarine Base, where he retired after a distinguished career.

Beyond his professional life, Bob was deeply involved in pigeon racing, a hobby he inherited from his father, James Hill. Bob was a well-respected breeder and an active member of local pigeon clubs from childhood through his later years.

Bob graduated from West High School in Bremerton and furthered his education at Olympic College. His academic and professional achievements were only surpassed by his dedication to his family and community.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sharon Hill; their three sons Steven, David and Daniel Hill, along with four cherished grandchildren. Bob’s legacy of discipline, community involvement and devotion to expanding knowledge will be remembered by all who knew him.
