Ramona Ann George, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin and church musician, left this world Sept. 24, 2024. She was surrounded by loved ones at her home on the Key Peninsula.
Born to Nona and Ernest Jorgenson in Minnesota in 1939, Ramona grew up in Southern California but migrated to Washington state in the early 1970s. She was a founding member of the Key Peninsula Lutheran Church where she played the piano for 40-plus years.
Ramona is survived by her children Mykel and Kristina George; brother David Jorgenson and sister Lynda Wickline; grandchildren Maree and Jonathon George, and Zebedee and Zakary Wilson; and great-grandson Cormac Wilson. She had many nieces, grandnieces and nephews, cousins and other extended family members who adored her.
Ramona’s ability to connect with her loved ones was unrivaled. Each of her family members has a unique story about the ways she made them feel special and deeply loved.
Ramona had a spunky personality and sophisticated and wise style (always wearing black clothes and heels). She was a cheerleader in high school, played guitar and piano (which she was great at, even though her tiny hands could not reach an octave), and took tap dancing classes as a senior citizen to check it off her bucket list. She never met an animal she didn’t love and spoil. Life was often hard on her, but it didn’t dim her sparkle and the positive effect she had on others.
A memorial service is scheduled for Oct. 13, 1 p.m., at Key Peninsula Lutheran Church.
Instead of flowers, please consider donating to the Humane Society of Tacoma and Pierce County to honor the kindness she showed to animals at www.thehumanesociety.org.
