Scholarships from Greater Gig Harbor Foundation

The Greater Gig Harbor Foundation has awarded more than $130,000 in scholarships to local students this year through its family of scholarship programs and donor-supported funds, reflecting the community’s commitment to investing in the next generation.

Foundation-administered scholarship programs include Students of Distinction, the Heron’s Key Scholarship Fund, the Minerva Scholarship Fund, and donor-supported awards such as the Coach Joel Wingard Scholarship.

These programs recognize academic achievement, leadership, community service, creativity, perseverance, career and technical excellence, and women returning to higher education after an interruption.

One of the Foundation’s signature programs, Students of Distinction, recently celebrated its 24th year of honoring exceptional graduating seniors from Gig Harbor, Peninsula, and Henderson Bay high schools.

Since its founding in 2003, the program has recognized more than 715 local students, celebrating not only academic success but also leadership, resilience, service, and character.

The Foundation’s scholarship programs support students pursuing college, technical education, apprenticeships, and other career pathways while helping remove financial barriers to continued education.

These scholarships represent more than dollars awarded — they are an investment in local students, encouragement at a pivotal moment in their lives, and a testament to the generosity of donors who believe in the future of our community.

The Greater Gig Harbor Foundation is honored to partner with individuals, businesses, and organizations that make these life-changing opportunities possible.
