Bruce G. Ellis, 87, of Longbranch, passed away peacefully April 14.

He was born Oct. 6, 1937, in East Texas, the second of six children born to John W. and Willie Mae Ellis.

In 1955, Bruce proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served his country with honor. His naval service was a defining time in his life as it sparked his desire to be a machinist. After the Navy, he settled in California, where he met his future wife, Jackie. The couple married in August of 1961 and went on to raise three children: Sheri, Richard, and John.

By 1980, Bruce moved his family to Washington, where he continued his career in computer numerical control manufacturing that spanned several decades. His dream was to have his entire family working together in a business that he started. That dream came true with Ellis Machinery, a family business located in Fife, still going strong today.

Bruce was a devoted family man and always told his family how much he loved and appreciated them. He also called his kids every day to see how they were doing.

In his leisure time, Bruce enjoyed leatherwork, camping, and boating.

Bruce is survived by his wife Jackie; his three children Sheri (Jim), Richard, John (Sara); granddaughter Meagan; his brother David (Trish), sister Louise (Wayne); and many nieces and nephews.

He loved life and cherished his family. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

His memorial service was held May 3, in the chapel at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor, led by Longbranch Community Church Pastor John Day.
