Pat died peacefully at his home overlooking Rocky Bay Feb. 16. He was 77 years old.
Born in Tacoma to Everett (Tiny) and Vetsa Reynolds, Pat spent his earliest years growing up with two brothers, Buz and Jeff. They lived near Old Town Tacoma before moving to the Key Peninsula at Rocky Bay. The brothers would spend the years outdoors and on the water getting to know the area. He boarded at St. Martin’s High School in Lacey.
After high school, he learned a trade that served many a hungry soul. He honed his craft as a cook for his father Tiny at Cutty Sark, and then at the Boathouse Grill on the Tacoma waterfront.
We will all remember Pat’s precision and presence in the kitchen or on the grill. He met his wife, Marcy, during his time at Point Defiance. They started a family, just a small handful: four children, with each of whom he shared a strong lifelong bond. Always kind, joyous, and loving, his devotion as a father and grandfather may be his defining trait.
Not long after the birth of their second son, Pat moved the family out to Rocky Bay, building a home next to his childhood residence. His bond to the place grew, and he never left it.
After starting a family, Pat moved on from top chef to become a loyal, competent, and hard-working employee as a delivery driver, and eventually became a plant manager. For his services, he was rewarded with an early retirement. He retired at the age of 55 and spent his remaining years walking the beach, being a family man, helping neighbors, keeping an eye on Rocky Bay, and watching the grass grow.
Pat is survived by his partner Marcy; daughter Kelly (Michael); sons Andy (Beth), Casey (Stephanie), and Ron; his grandchildren: Casper, Sky, Ryan, Selah, Annie, Ryder, and Jordan; and his semi-adoptive family Dani, Emma, and Elowyn.
